Caring for your glasses
A little care each day helps your glasses retain their clarity, appearance and function. Follow these tips for cleaning and storing optical frames and sunglasses.
How to clean them
Rinse them first
Wash your hands and rinse your glasses with lukewarm water to remove dust. Avoid hot water.
Clean them gently
Use a drop of mild dish soap without lotions or abrasive ingredients. Gently clean the lenses, frame and nose pads.
Rinse them thoroughly
Remove all traces of detergent with lukewarm water.
Dry with microfiber
Use a clean eyewear cloth and gentle movements, without applying pressure.
Away from home, use a spray or wipes made specifically for eyewear and suitable for protective lens coatings. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for your product.
How to store them
- Keep them in a hard case when not in use.
- When placing them on a table, keep the lenses facing upward.
- Do not leave them in a hot car, on a dashboard or near heat sources. High temperatures can damage the frame and protective coatings.
What to avoid
- Wiping with a T-shirt, sleeve, tissues or kitchen paper.
- Rubbing lenses while they are covered in dust.
- Window cleaners, acetone and chemicals not intended for eyewear.
- Trying to remove scratches with toothpaste or household polish: this can make the damage worse.
Wash the microfiber cloth regularly without fabric softener.
